A Just because game starring your husband

A gift for a husband on a normal week: his face on the hero, the sat-nav as the boss, remote controls for weapons, and twenty years of material in the taunts. No birthday, no anniversary, no reason he can find.

Send it at lunch. He will play it at his desk and text you something short. The win message is the thing you do not say often enough.

Example: Chris vs The Sat-Nav, playing itself. Tap to take over. Yours has their face and your jokes.

Bosses that work for a husband

  • The Lawn · it grows back and so does his commentary
  • The Shelf · three weekends and it still leans
  • The Barbecue · the only appliance he is allowed to be proud of

Jokes that land

Three inside jokes become the taunts. For a husband, think the shelf that took three weekends, the sat-nav argument, or the one song he thinks he can sing. You can rewrite every line.

Start with a photo

Free to make and play. $9.99 only when you send the link.

On the day

Send it in the middle of a working day with no explanation. That is the whole delivery. The win message can say why, or it can just say hi.

The photo

A recent one, looking at the camera. Wedding photos are tempting, but the cut-out wants a plain background and a straight-on face.

Difficulty

Normal takes a few tries, which is the point. Easy if they are likely to give up after one loss.

Questions people ask

What do I put as the occasion?
Pick "Just because" in the maker. The intro screen and the win message are written for it, and you can edit every line.
Can the kids be the boss?
Yes. The boss is any photo, so it can be the kids, the dog, or the two of you. Fair warning: kids as the boss is the version that gets replayed the most.
What photo works best?
A clear head-and-shoulders shot on a plain background. Selfies are fine. Group photos are not, since we cut out one person.
Can I change it after publishing?
You can edit the lines and message from the same device you made it on. Sprites are fixed once published.
