A Mother's Day game starring your wife

The Mother's Day game for a wife is made by the kids. They choose the boss, and it will be the school run or the laundry mountain, and the weapon, and you write the message. Her face on the hero, their jokes in the taunts, and a card at the end from the people she does it all for.

Give it at breakfast on the Sunday. The kids will want to play it first, which is fine. The message is the part she keeps, so let them write it and do not correct the spelling.

Example: Priya vs The School Run, playing itself. Tap to take over. Yours has their face and your jokes.

Bosses that work for a wife

  • The Laundry Mountain · it never gets smaller and it is never hers
  • The Calendar · the boss that runs the house
  • The School Run · a boss fight every weekday at 8:10

Jokes that land

Three inside jokes become the taunts. For a wife, think the holiday we never talk about, the wine glass that was definitely not the last one, or the way she says my name when the bins have not gone out. You can rewrite every line.

Start with a photo

Free to make and play. $9.99 only when you send the link.

On the day

Make it with the kids if you have them: they choose the boss and the weapon, you write the message. Send the link on Sunday morning before brunch, or put the QR code in the card. The postcard version is the safest bet for a mother who still likes something to put on the fridge.

The photo

A photo she likes of herself. That matters more than lighting. Straight on, no sunglasses, and the background can be anything.

Difficulty

Normal takes a few tries, which is the point. Easy if they are likely to give up after one loss.

Questions people ask

Can the kids help make it?
Yes, and they should. The boss and the weapon are the parts kids are good at. You keep the message for yourself.
Can I keep the message private?
The message is inside the game, so only someone with the link sees it. Nobody but the two of you needs to have it.
What photo works best?
A clear head-and-shoulders shot on a plain background. Selfies are fine. Group photos are not, since we cut out one person.
Can I change it after publishing?
You can edit the lines and message from the same device you made it on. Sprites are fixed once published.
