A Christmas game starring your boyfriend

The Christmas present for a boyfriend who has everything is the one that could not have come from a shop. His face on the hero, the office Christmas party as the boss, cold pizza for weapons, and the taunts are your year together. It costs less than the wrapping paper.

Put the QR code in his stocking and let him scan it at breakfast. Or send the link on Christmas Eve as the last message of the night. The win message is the card, so say the thing you would say in one.

Example: Jordan vs The Christmas Party, playing itself. Tap to take over. Yours has their face and your jokes.

Bosses that work for a boyfriend

  • His Alarm Clock · he has snoozed it more times than you have said good morning
  • The Fantasy League · the thing that ruins Sundays
  • The Cat · because the cat wins every time

Jokes that land

Three inside jokes become the taunts. For a boyfriend, think the Mario Kart grudge, the parking job outside the restaurant, or the one recipe he makes. You can rewrite every line.

Start with a photo

Free to make and play. $9.99 only when you send the link.

On the day

Put the QR code in the card under the tree, or in the cracker, and let them scan it at the table with everyone watching. For a stocking, the printed postcard is the physical version: game on the front, your note and a scan-to-play code on the back, posted to a US or Canadian address. Order by mid-December to be safe.

The photo

A photo where he is looking straight at the camera and not wearing sunglasses. The cut-out needs the whole face; a cap is fine, a hood is not.

Difficulty

Normal takes a few tries, which is the point. Easy if they are likely to give up after one loss.

Questions people ask

Will it work on Christmas morning on the family wifi?
The game is small and runs in the phone browser. Once the link has opened it keeps playing without a connection, so a slow one only delays the first load.
Will he actually play it?
He will play it until he beats it. Pick Normal: it takes a few tries, which is the point, and the rank at the end is something he will want to improve.
What photo works best?
A clear head-and-shoulders shot on a plain background. Selfies are fine. Group photos are not, since we cut out one person.
Can I change it after publishing?
You can edit the lines and message from the same device you made it on. Sprites are fixed once published.
