A Christmas game starring your gamer

The Christmas present for a gamer is the card they will actually keep. Their face on a pixel hero, a boss named after the Christmas Day lag when everyone is online, and taunts about the ragequit of 2019. Pick Hard. Write the taunts about the games they play.

Send the link on Christmas morning while the real console is still updating. It is a small real game with a rank at the end, and the taunts are yours. Their gamer tag can be the hero name.

Example: Jordan vs The Christmas Lag, playing itself. Tap to take over. Yours has their face and your jokes.

Bosses that work for a gamer

  • The Final Boss · the one they still have not beaten
  • The Ragequit of 2019 · everyone remembers
  • The Lag · the excuse for everything

Jokes that land

Three inside jokes become the taunts. For a gamer, think the ragequit of 2019, the controller that got thrown, or the one game they will never finish. You can rewrite every line.

Start with a photo

Free to make and play. $9.99 only when you send the link.

On the day

Put the QR code in the card under the tree, or in the cracker, and let them scan it at the table with everyone watching. For a stocking, the printed postcard is the physical version: game on the front, your note and a scan-to-play code on the back, posted to a US or Canadian address. Order by mid-December to be safe.

The photo

Any photo where their face is visible. Headphones are fine. Their gamer tag can be the hero name.

Difficulty

Pick Hard. It takes a few tries, the rank at the end means something, and they will want to beat it.

Questions people ask

Will it work on Christmas morning on the family wifi?
The game is small and runs in the phone browser. Once the link has opened it keeps playing without a connection, so a slow one only delays the first load.
Is it a real game or a gimmick?
It is a small real game: three phases, a K.O., a rank on the results screen. On Hard it takes a few tries. The taunts are yours, which is the part a real game cannot do.
What photo works best?
A clear head-and-shoulders shot on a plain background. Selfies are fine. Group photos are not, since we cut out one person.
Can I change it after publishing?
You can edit the lines and message from the same device you made it on. Sprites are fixed once published.
